Music, Theatre, and Dance Program and Scholarship Application

All prospective music and musical theatre majors and minors applying for Fall 2020 must complete an audition for program admittance and scholarship consideration by March 15, 2020.  You may audition in person or by video.  Complete this application to schedule an audition.  Contact program assistant, Lisa Royal, at (765) 998-5232 or lsroyal@taylor.edu with specific questions.

Primary Audition Dates: September 19-20, 2019, November 7-8, 2019, February 16-17, 2020, March 12-13, 2020; or by appointment at least one week in advance.

Music Scholarship Awards - presented to outstanding high school seniors and transfer students who are committed to a career in music. The total award amounts vary depending on the student’s musical ability and the needs of the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance. These awards are renewable each year that a student continues as music major, but students must reapply to the department for renewal. To qualify for these awards, students must declare music as a major, complete the scholarship application, and audition in person or video. Students who audition for these awards must follow audition guidelines and demonstrate outstanding proficiency and musicianship.


Music Minor Applied Lesson Awards - presented to outstanding high school seniors and transfer students who are planning to minor in music. These awards vary in amount and are renewable each year that a student continues as music minor, but students must reapply to the department for renewal. To qualify for these awards, students must declare music as their minor, complete the scholarship application, and audition in person or video. Students who audition for these awards should follow audition guidelines and demonstrate outstanding proficiency and musicianship.


Ensemble Participation Awards - presented to a limited number of students interested in instrumental ensemble participation. Students chosen for these awards have typically demonstrated outstanding musical skills in solo performance. The amounts of these awards may vary and are renewable, but students must reapply to the department each year. To qualify for these awards, students must complete the scholarship application, and audition in person or video. Students who audition for these awards should follow audition guidelines and demonstrate outstanding proficiency and musicianship. Students must commit to participate in the selected ensemble for a full year to receive the award.


Music Endowed Scholarship Awards - presented annually to Taylor upperclassmen who are music majors. These awards vary in amount and are designated for students who meet the endowed award specific criteria. Music Endowed awards are renewable to music majors who continue in good standing. Students must reapply to the department for renewal each year.

 

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre - The audition for the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre consists of three parts - acting, singing, and dancing.  Your "audience" will consist of Music, Theatre, and Dance faculty (assisted by a few current students) - all of whom will be wishing you great success.  Read complete audition guidelines here.

 

Criteria

  • Accepted full-time student at Taylor University
  • Music major, Music minor, or Instrumental Ensemble participation

Application Process

  1. Apply and be accepted to Taylor University
  2. Complete and submit scholarship application by March 15
  3. Complete on-campus audition or submit video audition by March 15: Music Audition Details and Musical Theatre Audition Details
